The Struggle WAS Real!
When learning classical guitar, like many others, I had mastered first position but struggled with the rest of the fretboard. Pausing to calculate each fret wasn’t fast enough for sight-reading. Every flash card app I tried failed—not tailored to guitar range, no circled string numbers, tab instead of sheet music (cheating!), and I had to manually tap to advance flashcards. Method books offered limited exercises that I memorized too quickly. Everything I could find was inefficient and maddening or defeated the purpose. So, I built Learn The Neck. It displays notes with circled string numbers, auto-advances on the correct pitch, randomizes accidentals, and lets you focus on any string(s)—even tongue frets. I hope it helps you conquer the fretboard as it did for me!
